Golf Club Hluboká nad Vltavou

  • The golf course in Hluboká nad Vltavou is located in beautiful countryside in Southern Bohemia below the chateau in Hluboká; the golf course covers an area of 64 ha and consists of 18 + 9 holes and a large driving range.

  • On the 23rd of July 1999, the first golf training started on a training meadow that was created on an area of about 300 x 250 metres merely by mowing the Poříčská louka meadow. Service was provided from a prefabricated unit placed on a concrete panel. Even though this activity was not advertised, it quickly became known and prospective golfers, local people as well as people from České Budějovice and the surrounding region, started to visit the training meadow. People from other clubs who were on holiday in the surrounding region and already had some knowledge of golf used to arrive in small groups too. Despite all this, it was more or less a public enlightenment and people started to understand that this sport was not designated for a certain exclusive group of people but that it was available to almost everybody. Because of this activity, the decision to create a simple public golf course was made; construction on the golf course began in August 1999 by mowing golf course fairways and creating putting greens without any landscaping modifications.

  • Interest in golf in Hluboká increased substantially and a decision was therefore made a to build an 18-hole par 71 golf course with a length of 5,900 m on the Podskalská louka meadow in Hluboká. The 9-hole golf course has been run as "public" golf course for 4 years; last year, an 18-hole golf course was completed and was intended to be opened on 7th of September 2002. However, while some remaining minor modifications were taking place, the golf course was flooded.
